Seafarers

Performance of continuous maritime activities on board a foreign-flagged vessel or platform operating, or intended to operate, within Brazilian jurisdictional waters.

Requirements

It may take up to 10 working days to process your eVisa. To avoid any delays in your travel plans, we strongly recommend that you apply at least one month in advance of your intended departure date.

Passport

Current Passport: The passport issued by the People's Republic of China must be signed and have at least two blank visa pages. Clear copies of the bio-page and all stamped pages or pages containing visas are required. Please note: a minimum of six-month validity is not a strict requirement for issuing the visa but is a common requirement by airline companies traveling to Brazil.

Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID):

A copy of the Seafarer’s Passport/Identity Document issued by the People’s Republic of China.

Proof of entry method into Brazil (Air Travel Only):

For applicants arriving in Brazil by plane: A printed copy of the round-trip flight itinerary (in English or Portuguese) showing the applicant’s name, flight numbers, and confirmed dates

Letter from the company

with which the applicant is affiliated (Dispatch Letter), on official letterhead, specifying:

  • The applicant’s profession, position, duties, purpose of the trip to Brazil and estimated
  • Length of stay: Vessel Information: Name of the vessel, IMO number, flag (country of registration), and vessel type (e.g., cargo, cruise, tanker, fishing).
  • Itinerary: Specific ports of call in Brazil and a brief description of activities.
  • Corporate Contact Point: Name, position, email address, and telephone number of the person responsible for the application at the company.

Supporting Documents:

While only certain documents are mandatory, applicants are strongly encouraged to include relevant supporting materials whenever available. Although not compulsory, such documentation can help clarify the purpose of travel and provide valuable context that may positively influence the visa decision.


Important Notes

  • Consular offices may request additional documents at their discretion.
  • If a required document doesn't have a designated upload section, please upload it under 'Additional Documents' in the online application.
  • If the seafarer applicant has a valid VIVIS, they may use it for entry and stay in Brazil, for the allowed period. The visa belongs to the applicant, not to the shipping company, therefore changing companies does not invalidate the visa. In any case, having a valid VIVIS, it is not necessary to apply for a new one.

Processing takes up to 10 business days once your verified application is submitted.

Upon arrival, airport authorities will verify your entry authorization. To avoid issues, carry your valid passport and a printed copy of your eVisa PDF (downloadable from the dashboard)

Brazilian citizens cannot apply for eVisa, contact a Brazilian Consulate for assistance. If you have an expired Brazilian passport, you must provide proof of renouncement or apply for a new Brazilian passport. Ensure eVisa details match your travel document, as errors invalidate the visa and fees are non-refundable.
